BBSA performs the First Incisionless Weight Loss Procedure in the United States!
On February 16th, 2009 Drs. Peter Denk and John Oldham performed the first POSE (Primary Obesity Surgery, Endolumenal) in the United States.
Building on our extensive experience with Incisionless revision obesity surgery (ROSE) Bluegrass Bariatric Surgeon's now offer an advanced procedure for weight loss that does not require any incisions in the abdomen. Done completely through the mouth, POSE shrinks the capacity of the stomach and thereby decreases the volume of food a person consumes at each meal, allowing them to lose weight.
As one of only four sites accross the country, BBSA has been chosen to participate in a study of the POSE procedure and we have chosen Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky as our hospital for the study.
Dr. Denk has proctored and performed over 100 incisionless ROSE, POSE, and NOTES procedures and serves as the lead surgeon educator for USGI Medical. He has trained nearly all surgeons performing ROSE today.
